There seems to have been a few Japanese aftermarket suppliers providing upgrade parts for the KR when it was still a
current model, indeed I think you can still order brand new expansion chambers from AlphaRacing even now ! Alpha also
offered a replacement seat unit in the style of the KR500 racer, and RSP/PitCrew sold a complete bodykit in the same
style. The other names that crop up a lot are 'Beet' and Daytona' - it seems they both had quite a few parts
available for the KR, including rearsets, bars and bar-lowering kits, anti-dive blanking plates, steering dampers, all the
way to complete customised bikes. I don't really have any details, I've just picked up this information from various
Japanese websites and items advertised for sale on Yahoo Auctions Japan. I'd be very interested indeed if anyone
knows of other parts or has any experience of using them. Or has some they can sell me...
OK, so there have been some weird and wonderful parts available for KR's in the past, has anyone actually used any ? Well, here's a few random pictures I found on the net, showing various KR's with bodywork mods as well as bar and footpeg upgrades, aftermarket pipes and running-gear transplants. Some are, erm, more successful than others but the important thing is that you're inspired to modify your own bike. That 4-wheeled thing is an Australian off-road buggy running a KR engine...
